Identifying Needs-Based Issues for New eXtension Communities of Practice

To date, eXtension has been identifying and developing new Communities of Practice (CoP) through three approaches: 1) voluntary applications from content areas, 2) needs-based calls to Extension Directors/Administrators, and 3) through successful proposals submitted through various CSREES competitive grant programs (e.g., Specialty Crops Research Initiative (SCRI), Agriculture Food Research Initiative (AFRI), etc.). In an effort to expand our approaches to identify appropriate CoP's that are relevant to the Extension system, we are conducting this survey of Extension field faculty/educators.The purpose of this survey is to engage all Extension field faculty/educators in identifying issues/topics they feel may be appropriate for developing new CoP's. So we are extremely interested in your input and response to this survey. The survey should take about 5 minutes to complete. Please be assured that your response is anonymous and will never be associated with your name. Thanks in advance. Please complete the survey by Friday, May 29, 2009.To learn more about eXtension, go to http://about.extension.org/

While I realize forestry does not exist in Cooperative Extension in all states, I am very surprised this topic is not included yet. Because of this I have looked at the eXtension site once and have not gone back as the current subjects listed don't help me out.
Nationally the west is visualized from two very different perspectives that are quite opposites of each other. The west is recognized for its vast recreation amenities, a place to preserve pristeen beauty. On the other hand, because of the vast open space which is precious to those who live there, the west represents an opportunity to construct and maintain the communication/energy infrastructure to provide the energy needs of the nation. Both ends probably cannot be met without some mitigated sacrifice to each. A strong community of practice must be built on the needs of those who live in the community and not on the needs of those who have some dillusional picture of what another community should be.
unsure of the commitment to participate in a CoP - would need to know that before agreeing
There should be more inter-actions between the Extension Program administrators and all Cooperative extension specialists of each university. Our individual duties and responsibilities as specialists over-lap one another's. Whereas, we all mean to raech the same goal of protecting US agriculture, providing meaningful job for our people and keeping them healthy and safe.
these are current COPs and I am currently assisting with them.
I spend a lot of time responding to the public's needs. I don't know whether the CoP would be a time burner which would take away from the time I have to respond. I think we have to be careful not to shift our work to each other rather than the public which relies on the landgrants.
I would like to see our Extension programs expand into more areas such as prevention and innovative youth programs.
Many people that participate in nutrition education are facing issues such as food allergies, child hood diseases, and poor quality of life in their senior years. We need to find a way to better serve their needs.
Whether I would participate depends upon the amount of time required relative to what my program would gain from it.
    none
Everyone knows what to do but we all lack the hows and evaluating their effectiveness. I think CoP should emphasize the HOWs of every topic and evaluation process other than who contributed and number of hits at the sites.
Issues in Ag that still are in the forefront our over use of pesticides for 'plant health' or other reasons and the concern for developing pesticide resistance and environmental safety.
There is a need to teach youth how our economy works; to teach entrepreneurship development, as opposed to workforce development, and to help them be competitive in a global economy.
I think there is a tremendous need for community development activities in both rural and urban neighborhood settings.
The reason that CoPs are not useful in my work is that the FAQs and 'articles' posted on CoP sites regarding topics concerning me are of unknown validity.

The 'peer review' process that I have participated in as a reviewer is not even close to the peer review process undertaken by scholarly journals. It is peer-editing and peer rubber-stamping.

I can't in good conscience base recommendations to my citizen clients on notes posted on-line that lack attribution or that make no reference to any actual scientific research.
I would not be able to provide subject matter expertise for any of these topics, but as the head of a county Extension office, these are clearly our most pressing needs. I would do whatever I could to facilitate development of these CoPs.
Thanks to all of the eXtension faculty for your efforts. This is our future.
    Todd Hurt
    thurt@uga.edu
In the midst of a changing economy, a teachable moment is presenting itself. My class sizes have quadrupled. People are "hungry" for information on how to adapt to their income (or lack of income). As an educator, I am excited to help them do this...and more. We should not just stop at the information that is going to help them in their current situation but also help them to plan for their financial future...in an innovative way.
Because we are already understaffed, eXention will be utilized more if it is a resource, not yet another way to take up more of our time. Keep it simple and usable.

    Thanks
Why don't you - Extension service and USDA - just use plain language in your documents, publications, and interactions. Communities of practice and other types of this jargon fail to get your message across to people who could use your information, whether they are professionals or homeowners.
I know a new CoP is forming around issue 1. I've marked 'don't know' for being involved however, because of too many other demands on my time - and the link to number 3. Specifically, it's hard for me to see where Extension can play a role in biomass utilization and thus I fear we will spend LOTS of time on the topic and won't get much 'bang for our buck.' I am part of the Entrepreneurship CoP. Lastly, issue no. 3 is obviously an internal/administrative issue for Extension professionals.
Unfortunately, I am so busy with implementing my programming and administrative responsibilities, that I wouldn't have time to participate in developing a CoP. However, I would find it helpful to access the information that was created as a result of one forming on any of these topics.
might be interested in participating but we have bneen asked to do so much with so littel help that these extra chores are WAY down on the priority list.
    none
Would also like to see something on time management or coaching
The job of a 4-H Agent can be quite overwhelming. It would be much more simple if agents could pull materials from a source rather than generate new ones each time they taught a program
I feel we have to start with the youth and families and get our entire communities back on board to change our country and communites.
Thanks for the opportunity to provide input.
I would participate. I am currently participating in a CoP

areas of interest for me are already covered.
I hope that eXtension can become more of a working resource and tool to help specialists like myself and stakeholders throughout the U.S. CoPs and their leaders and members need to be much more interactive, instead of just existing as another entity in eXtension that looks good to administrators of the project but does little to help us do our job in our respective state or region.
I am in the horticulture community of practice. This is a great tool for us to serve our clientele.
Two topics of most need and interest to me/my work have COPs already -- aging, family finance
Great idea, if we can generate enough localized data/inferences that would be pertinent to our area problems/solutions.
There is currently very little on eXtension that directly relates to the work of 4-H educators.
I am already on several committees in chattanooga dealing with these issues.
The biggest hurdle I am facing to date is not enough time (My hours have been reduced); money and support from the association and it's director to effectively support all the community food/gardening/etc. initiatives that are springing up in Broome County. I don't have the resources to effectively deal with the regular day to day stuff, let alone this new influx of need. Organizations, schools, institutions get this funding for gardens and have not considered where to get the knowledge base to complete the project. They come to CCE wanting free assistance, not realizing that we are also a non-profit. They have not budgeted any financial resources for education. Therefore, I end up with lots of need in the community, and reduced time to deal with it due to no funding and lack of interest. This could be a cash cow for CCE, not a drain.
I've signed up to participate in two CoP's already. However, I have found it difficult to understand my role and whether I should participate in these CoP's. In other words, I haven't found a niche in them and so I'm uncertain how I would fit into a new CoP. eXtension seems to have its own jargon that makes it difficult for me to understand really what's going on in the CoP's.
On issue #2, we don't have a lot of expertise, but I think the issue is of grwoing importance
as funding becomes limited we are considering the possibilities or reducing or regionalizing programs - this causes us to lose the neighbor to neighbor concept that extension has always had
Could you please change the spelling of your website to e-X-tension or e-extension or E-extension so it can be found by search engines as something different from the common word extension?
Integrated Pest Management MUST be and eXtension CoP in the very near future.

The above listing of the top 3 priorities is not a mistake. I intend that all three priorities are IPM
I currently participate in one COP and will be retiring soon so won't be available for additional participation.
Before I would commit to anything I'd need to know: the time commitment, timelines, is it scholarly?, is this activity/tool recognized by the "Academics on Campus" who will determine whether I get promoted or not?
Thanks for your interest in this topic. Our rural communities need lots of help.
eXtension is difficult to access compared to other searchable sites. It needs to be more user-friendly.
In our livestock production practices we have to be more concious of the enviorment.
I participate in the fireant COP
would be willing to work in any of these areas to educate people...
I recently looked for a CoP on Farmers Markets and did not find one. We are seeing a strong emphasis on purchasing locally grown foods and developing farmer's markets. I think this CoP would be beneifical not only to university personnel, but also the general public.
All three topics should be addressed together as a new initative.
Need to get the LGA to give credit for working in a CoP environment.

Most employees just see it as an extra add on to their county and state work versus a releiving environment.

Most admin. people are so far from the action that they rarely deal with those problems that need answers. We need to become a more grass root organization with fewer directions coming out of Columbus and more from our clientele.
Time limits the availability to participate as a county agent with current responsibilities; otherwise I would participate; competes with current Program Work Teams
I'm already on the financial CoP
The common thread is that continuous no-till will work much better with controlled traffic to manage compaction, and cover crops to help improve soil quality and yields.
I find that there are significant regional differences that make the eXtension info misleading
The Companion Animal CoP has been approved.
Leadership Development and communication is slowly leaving America. We do not teach it in our schools nor do we practice it.
This may seem outside my role as Operation:Military Kids Project Coordinator but I think it is a major social issue, would attract youth, and would help extension and 4-H access national funding for such projects.
I may be willoing to particiapte in a CoP but before I committ I need to more information - what is involved, expectations, est. of time involved, etc.
I'm a member of the newly formed freshwater aquaculture CoP
The issues mentioned are ones that I lack handy resources on. It'd be great to use eXtension for those areas where we don't have a specialist or good, printed information.
From what I have seen so far, you have not always attracted the best people. There really isn't an incentive to join if it is going to be more mediocrity. Sometimes when people self-nominate or go for grants it is not reflective of whether they are the most respected. They are looking for money because funds are tight or something to put on their CV.
I'm preparing to retire so now would not be the best time to join a CoP. However, the issues remain...families are hurting.
E- xtenison is just one means of passin gon information to our clientele. A lot percentage of clientele do not have email access except at work. E-Extension needs to have updates, factsheets, and news releases aas well as FAQ's.
Identify the elements that are missing from local communities that could restore its' people. How do you reach/modify behavior of the whole community one person at a time? Through Community Resource Centers. There you change the whole community through its people. You develop a scientifically tested community development model that can be duplicated anywhere.
I am already an active member of the HorseQuest group - I would enthusiastically help with the 3 topics mentioned as they pertained to working with my current group.
My school was not listed...Missouri State University.
I would like to see more broad categories...
I am currently part of the the "Entreprenerus and Their Communities" CoP but would like to see a CoP that focuses more on the community leaders (elected and volunteer) and their needs for information, training, etc.
Focusing on several other proposals for the last SCRI, I didn't see the CoP option until it was too late or I would have submitted a proposal for a commercial veg production and/or marketing CoP. They need to happen.
I'm all ready in the new Food Safety CoP, don't know if I'd have time for another....
I am aware that a Drinking Water CoP may be forming.
Sometimes CoP topic areas seem to divide the work up so fine that there are too many and some combining could be done. Having too many could mean you use up peoples' willingness to be involved in CoPs without covering all of the areas that eXtension should cover.
Sometimes county extension offices seem far removed from the general campus and college environment. How do we bridge that gap?
    none
My "Don't know" response to Question 3 is because I am already a member of 2 CoP's.
A list of existing COPs would be useful on this survey form introduction.
The materials I listed are aimed for training of new county agents. These are topics that agents are expected to know when they begin their jobs but have never had any experience.

I do not need any assistance from eXtension. What is currently available online is adequate for my area of expertise.
We have legistlation pending at the state level (waiting for Govenor's signaturre) that will require all commercial landscape professionals applying fertilizer to obtain a BMP certification in Florida by Jan 2014 ... this will require training statewide of up to 100,000 landscape professionals around our state.
It would be nice to know what are the requriements of participating in a CoP.
Although I am an "agricultural productivity" extensionist, the really critical issues for myself and my colleague are focused around economics andcommunity development issues.
I note there is an (apparently) inactive group on "virtual leadership" presence on the eXtension; perhaps these things need more assistance/support for broadcasting the opportunity that eXtension represents as a resource for program development and implementation.
Our state is in a financial crisis. It is hard to make commitments. May know more after the budget is passed in Aug.
Up to this point...I certainly feel like I am giving a lot more to my eXtension COP than I am recieving. It is difficult to justify the time I am spending on eXtension relative to the other opportunities for my time.
eXtension is growing by leaps and bounds and should be very proud of its progress to date.
It is very useful just to know who else is interested in these areas.
We, ie Extension has the National Extension Tourism Design Team
http://extensiontourism.net (an unfunded group of volunteer extension professionals that organizes a national conference, next one June 14-17, 2009)that is ready with the right support to develop a COP however it has seemed to be an un/underfunded task that would require a lot of work to develop and so a COP has not been established to date for tourism
Grouping of Landscape Designs according by Themes.
eXtension needs to be flexible in its approach developing CoP. Many states already have EXCELLENT on-line resources that already produce a lot of traffic.

To change that success to fit into eXtension makes little sense. How can eXtension serve my outreach needs as opposed to current mindset that wants me to serve eXtension mission.
    keep up the good work!
Due to the losss of commercial timber production opportunities on most federal and state lands the managers are looking for other sources of income. These non-timber forest products have provided forest community families with food, medicinals, fungi as well as needed cash income when logging is not there.
We need to develop a way to link the community of professionals that are working with these products.
any home economics related topics would benefit me and my county!
It would be nice to have some regional information so people from the south can look up what is best for them and the people from north or west can look up what works best for them.
not familiar with e-extension. perhaps this already exists
I don't necessarily know what is involved in participating in a CoP. Many of these things are already available. I do think it's important to ID the best for use on the CoP.
Make the emails concise and to the point not the long emails that are currently being sent for areas of practice.
Would have been nice to see a list of the existing CoP's at the beginning of your survey to ensure that people don't suggest a topic that is already a CoP.
I am intersted in all if I am not working on all of them at the same time.
I am currently involved in developing a CoP.
    thanks
I don't necessarily think that the CoPs should be sorted by topics, but more so by audiences. This will make finding information on the web page easier.
I am not sure I understand how COPs area formed - some seem very global while others are very specific. It would be nice to seem some continuity. I believe the COPs should address major issues - with more specific state or regional issues within them.
I have been a member of COP for families but I have not done anything or heard anything about any activities that impacted the targeted population. Need more communication with each other.
I am not overly optimistic that eXtension is the best mechanism for extending info to commercial growers. It seems more useful to the lay person or hobby grower. Although I have been an extension specialist for 13 years...I have not looked to eXtension as a mechanism to disseminate timely information or non-time-dependent information and have not used it much as a source of info. Perhaps as it evolves and local budgets get a lot tighter then the outlet will gain more momentum. It is not clear to me that my clientele would use it...at this point anyhow.
Post information related to each Co'ps on the E extension web for easy access
I will be excited to be part of a CoP that includes my speciality
We must always go the extra mile to served those who are under-served and often unlearned in our communities.
So far I haven't found the site all that useful. When I have had a questions I haven't been able to really find the answer there
I love eXtension but still have a hard time navigating. For instance, I tried to find a power point on "What is FCS?" last night, gave up and went to "Ask an Expert."

I also appreciate very much that you send reminders and invitations through FACEBOOK. Great job!
Already belong to rangeland, wildlife, wilfire, and EDEN CoPs.

    Requesting membership in beef CoP
this survey is a great idea
I have many requests for information on these topics and there are not many resources available.
Extension will have to move to areas that focus on human, environmental and economic systems that enhance quality of life. Providing education is not enough, we must drive some of these issues to increase public awareness and choice. Overemphasis on Agriculture is limiting our portfolio.
Developing there areas will provide information to our clientele especially those who are trying to get acsess to information and finding difficulty to do so.
We need training on how to use eXtension!
Extension has great resources for nutrition and food safety but I would like to see them within the scope of eXtension.
There MUST be more CoPs focused on youth development and youth development programming. If eXtension does not address this, in my mind, a huge void in the educational resources it provides, than it is not truly representative of the work of Extension across this country!
Hard to know what's involved and time commitment if your involved a COP. Perhaps a job description would help for both participants, and if there is a leader.
We actually already have a COP for my #1 priority and I am participating.
Gardening is a hot topic here, too.
As an educator managingh time is a challenge. One can easily spend all day at the computer.

How do we package useful knowledge into bites that the dairy businessperson will take time to learn?
this is the busy time of year for me so I don't know if I could participate due to schedule conflict.
I don't work in the nutrition & health education area, but I think that's one area of questions we receive in quantity. Nutrition topics should definitely be added to your CoP ASAP. Thanks!
It is difficult to find the time for national involvement when local issues are so demanding of our time. The timing of program development is critical for field staff involvement.
I look forward to seeing how eXtension can help Extension be relevant now and in the future.
The above issues are ones that are important in EVERY community, in EVERY state. However, not all states have an Extension program to offer assistance to communities on these issues.
Partnering with other public and private institutions in order to better connect available resources to individuals and communities for the maximized community sustainability, entrepreneurship and economic development.
i'm not sure if these were issues that you wanted.
please no more personality profile classes!
Many grants require multi-state involvement of working teams. We need to establish some for the forages.
Extension professionals in other states deal with these issues. Alaska's extreme climatic conditions, varied infrastructure, distance between communities and cultural differences make it difficult to fit lessons from other parts of the US to Alaska's situations.
Don't forget to speak to people.
    Thanks for asking.
I'm not familiar with the CoP and the requirements of participating. I will research the topic.
I will be retiring at the end of this year, so I don't know how involved I will be in the future.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to have input!!
Have tried to use eXtension a few times, and found it to be less than useful.
Most of my colleagues in Plant Pathology of aware of eXtension, but know little else. I think there needs to be further and better "marketing" of this tool and how it complements to existing tools.
I appreciate the innovation it appears you are trying to integrate into eXtension. One other potential important issue right now is supporting our military and building community capacity to do so; thier problems are unique given that the citizen soldier (National Guard and Reserve) are now operational. A motto from the 40's was "Working for Vistory, Planning for Peace." I thnk we need to endorse that motto again. And, the vistory is connected to all the issues facing humanity and America's Extension Service should accept the responsibility to lead in the work and planning for peace.
I'm too new to even really know what a CoP is.
It would be good to see a list of current CoPs; there are a lot and more added all the time and I'm not familiar with all of them.

eXtension could have the best resource for volunteer management in the country if we worked together
While there are many pieces of information already in existence on all three of these issues/topics, much of the information is not available to the public or to county educators in an easily accessible location, it is not in easily used formats, and much of the information is old and outdated. With the dropping of extension safety specialist positions at land grant universities, the CoP method would be a way to address these issues.
I truly believe that all states should work together, uniting their resources so that we do not have so much duplication of the same area over and over.
There are many of us who know e-extension exists and are even members of some CoP...but it really isn't an integral part of our work. At some point, best practices and scholarship around recruitment, engagement, retention, and impact for online CoPs would help Extension professionals.
A definition of Community of Practice would be helpful. I had to look this up online to see what we were talking about.
We have a cadre of successful, expert farmers in our area. They have a difficult time against international competition. Especially when inexpensive ammonium nitrate is discouraged by the Homeland Security Department, yet other countries can still use it. In 2008 speculators in the commodity markets created uncertainty and high input costs to the detriment of farmers and food producers. I blew off steam here. My comments are not particularly relevant to my career.
    Keep Up the Good Work!
The pendulum is swinging back and the need to consider the earth's resources has people thinking more about better lifestyles with less processed materials. However the skills to cook or preserve food is missing due to the movement towards fast food and prepared meals. People are also tired of the constant drive to address only nutrition issues. They all know they need to eat better, but there is so much information about what is really good and what is hype, that many get tired of hearing about it.
See following two links for existing online content that should be integrated with eXtension: http://www.indiancountryextension.org/index.php and http://myice.arid.arizona.edu/

I work with all of these topics locally and have attracted significant funding through grants and contracts. That funding employs three individuals who assist in making these programs highly successful.
I really don't know what a community of practice is and what they actually do. I looked at teh website but this was not clear. Maybe a good start would be to inform extension educators on what a CoP is and then we could figure out what is lacking. Maybe a web presentation would be in order.
I already participate in the CoP of Issue/topic 1.
I feel that working through extension with the idea that we are a "collective entity" will help us to engage others and leverage resources to create outstanding programming.
How quickly is info being brought through the current CoPs? Do we need to help facilitate this? What could we do to help the process without taking too much time from our local jobs?
Don't load us up with so much to do.
Let us know we are appreciated. Don't assume we know it, say it.
Because of the calls to Extension administrators and proposals coming from their regional approval process, I feel left out of opportunities in my field since they didn't include me in the development process.

I would like more visible calls to interested individuals, or at least notification of what is in development or being offered from other processes like calls to administrators, RFPs, etc.
I have not taken the time to visit eXtension...so my answers could be off base...
    Thank you for your efforts!
eXtension is confusing and I avoid it because I haven't seen a robust easy to follo9w community environment.
I would like to see some control and organization of the groups--perhaps all should be classified to one of five or six larger umbrella groups?

A proliferation of region-specific or user-created groups with technical or specialized acronymn names (e.g. AAE_MNmg, UK District Directors, etc.) takes away from site usability and credibility.
    Thanks for seeking agent input.
    I am already participating.
    eXtension is a great resource!
There are many many aspects of water that need to be addressed to support our communities - - basic aspects such as rain water harvesting and water conservation can be readily addressed by most. More scientifically demanding topics, such as domestic well issues [quantity and quality] must be reviewed and technically accurate prior to presentation to the public. There have been a number of instances of inaccurate information being presented to the public and an apparent lack of technical review prior to publication. This is of concern as it reflects poorly on our University - I believe the underlying issue is a perceived 'lack of control' on the part of the counties if they include campus Extension staff. There is a reason that in the professional world, people who work in the world of water are licensed to practice - Extension needs to honor the reality that some topics require special technical expertise and coordination with others that may be outside their counties may be necessary.
hard to commit to additional time demands. i would need a better understanding of what a CoP is, what one can do for me and how much time it would require
    none
Extension could be a key player in new national initiatives around health issues in general and children and elderly in particular.
It is hard to get agents involved with these dicussions.
I am hesitant to say yes as time commitments are mounting and the ability to absorb more work and responsibilities is becoming problematic.
Most of these issues need to be addressed because of the lack of available expertise.

Too, consider homeowner ornamental horticulture and home fruit and vegetable production.
I wish that we didn't have to have a user name and password to use the site. When you forget you can't get in so I got discouraged and just went to some other web site.
These are questions in which I refer to my specialists in the state, I do not feel that I am knowledgable enough to answer the questions.
    good luck!
Already participating in Biomass COP directly and indirectly.
    test
It is becoming more and more critical for county extension offices to remain relevant to the traditional agricultural communities as they urbanize and you have new agents with very little experience/background in farming. Many new agents think they can be relevant from their desk/computer screens and we are losing our connection and influence with agriculture.
Also developing a teamwork approach to Extension, including cross training between extension agents, program leaders, directors and support personnel because it is a sink or swim operation rampant throughout - everyone doing their own thing and others left out in the cold getting burned out too quickly, also an attitude that if you are not living at the office and working each weekend, then you are not doing a good job.
There is just not enough time or support to participate in any more activities than those I already have on my plate. If you want people to participate it has to be very clear and simple what needs to be done. I have not had time to explore E-Extension offerings to any great extent and when I do, I find that I am always more confused. I wish there was someone at our University who was familiar with E-Extension and could explain the nuances to the rest of us.
These issues appear to be national not just for my state. However, getting the general public involved in programs regarding these issues is a different matter.
Feel free to contact me for further explanation. kpoff@vt.edu (540)459-6140

This recession provides an opportunity, like no other, for Extension to emerge as the most effective and efficient non-formal educator in history.

This will require a new framework of cooperation between Land Grant Universities across the country. Instead of seeing each other as competitors, we must share, collaborate, and use our existing synergies to be the leading "agents of change" in society.

One approach I would recommend is to no longer view our program priorities as needs, weaknesses/incapacities, and problems. To ensure long-term sustainability of positive change, it rests only with enlightened citizens through education. Public funds, grants, and contracts must not be seen as ends in themselves. Grass-roots education must be designed from an asset-based approach where we identify capacities/ and strengths of our Land Grant Institutions, individuals, families and communities, and build our programming based on these strengths.
    great work on eOrganic!
I do not possess the knowledge to answer the questions
What is the difference between a CoP and a POW? We have a small acreage POW actively working towards the 1st two goals above. If their are other groups that would like to be involved in any of the three either in SD or from another state, I am happy to serve as a liason.
    rebecca.bott@sdstate.edu
What is there is very helpful. Continue to build and like the fact that it is researched based informaiton from various universities.
I feel topic 2 & 3 are very important, but they are not in my speciality area that is why I did not mark Yes as far as participating in CoP.
Would not mind contributing to CoP, but don't have time for ask the expert or keeping news updated.
    Thank you.
What is a CoP and why does Extension always create their own language that no one understands?
I already participate on the Rangelands CoP and Beef Cattle CoP
    No additional comments
Budget constraints could be a limiting factor in participation.
I would love to work on any one of these topics, but my contract time will not allow it. I do see a great need in both counties I serve with all of three of these issues.
    Nothing comes to mind.
I'm very good at writing grants. I currently have five active grants.
I currently have proposed a CoP in agricultural biotechnology for a AFRI CAP grant and will proceed if it is funded.
I am already a member of both the personal finance and entrepreneurship COP's.
    Thanks
More incentives are needed to start CoP's.
These are issues that I have been dealing with. However, I am in the process of retiring.
